WIFI is both a blessing and a curse. It makes everything so easy (a positive), and I love controlling my Evolution by Android tablet. However, I will repeat what I have often said in other threads. But your update regarding how to do this via WiFi is very useful.

This first post in this thread specifically highlights these parameters. The majority of Celestron owners use a hand controller and hence link to Windows PC'S. Obviously, only Evolution owners and others with an external WiFi accessory can use WiFi. This thread embraces a wide number of Celestron mounts. If if you are updating via wifi, why is it necessary to comment SS camera and HC (#7) to computer? I got wifi update to work pretty easily for StarSense: My kit now runs like a dream, so I don't intend updating it again (ever) unless I encounter a fresh running problem or read of a specific need. I pursued development of this thread and updated all my kit as I had distinct problems with my Evolution and Starsense and discovered that my firmware was at least a year out of date, so it was an intuitive move to eliminate that. Most updates are to fix stuff that is probably irrelevant to your mount or location. A firmware update might even introduce a problem particularly if you are using any third party applications. However, if you have the cables and have waded through the foggy process (installing Drivers & latest Java etc) it doesn't take more than a couple of clicks to periodically check.īut as a general rule, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Celestron (like Microsoft) ought to have a Web page that lists updates, but don't. You don't unless somebody mentions in here. How will you know if there is an update available for your mount or starsense without periodically checking cfm and connecting to the mount?
